Who can participate and contribute:
- Hairdressers,
- Cosmetology professionals,
- Stylists,
- Make up artists,
- Manicurists.
We created Style Project to host Beauty events. These events are celebrations for the orphans. We find volunteer professionals that provide a professionally done hair, make up and manicures for the orphans. Then our volunteer photographers take professional pictures and print them for the orphans.
Now, this may seem as a luxury that some of the kids living with families can not afford. However, the children who have mothers have an opportunity to learn how to take care of themselves naturally. Orphans do not have role models that would allow them to learn proper personal care appropriate for their age. The caretakers have so many kids that they don't have time to teach the girls basics of make up, or basic grooming for the boys. Not only do professional hairdressers, make up artists and nail technicians show the kids how to do basic grooming, but also they try to help kids see themselves from a different prospective.
Many teenage orphan girls do not know how to apply make up appropriately for their age. They end up looking a dozen years older then they should. Professional make up artists teach each girl the basics of make up.
One of the most important aspects of our work under Style Project is to raise the self esteem of orphaned boys and girls. We try to help them value themselves as individuals.
Another benefit of this project is that the kids see how the professionals work and begin to show interest in the profession. Some girls aspire to become hair dressers or make up artists. The orphans have a very limited view and knowledge of the working professionals due to mere absence of exposure to the outside world. Seeing different professionals at work provides them with opportunity to judge whether a certain profession would be interesting to them.
The Style Project aims to provide continuous development of each child that focuses on their personality and individuality.
